The Dynamics of Personality Model: Integrating and Explaining Personality and Motivation by Systems Dynamics
Over the last decades personality psychology has predominantly been focused on describing personality by as few variables as possible. However, this descriptive trait approach toward personality fails short at explaining how personality systems and processes interact among each other and with situations to explain behavior and experience. Using a neurobiologically informed dynamic-systems approach (Quirin, Robinson, Rauthmann, Kuhl, Read, Tops, & DeYoung, 2020), the present work attempts to explain central mechanisms of personality on the basis of the reactivity and interaction of cognitive-affective intrapsychic systems.
